About This Database
On this site, you can search for Veteran Grave Registration records that we have processed into our system. This is NOT a complete database of all veterans from Union County, New Jersey. It was created using an archived collection of Veteran Grave Registration cards provided to the County Clerk's Office.
Some records, containing typos or missing crucial information - such as burial location and date of death - were supplemented using information from Find a Grave and the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Consequently, some of the information may not appear on the scanned PDF images.
How It Works
This database was developed using Microsoft Azure AI Document Intelligence to initially extract text from the cards. The extracted text is then run through a program to clean, correct, and standardize values before being manually checked and verified.
Note: Despite this process, there may still be minor spelling errors. Please keep this in mind when filling out the search fields.

Standard Columns: Normalized values for easy searching
Image Column: Tap the View button to view the card (all images have redacted sensitive information)
